How Our Church is Financed

No churches in Australia receive financial grants from governments, although church sponsored welfare agencies often do. We have to be self-supporting. At St Augustine's, we are largely dependent on the gifts of members for meeting our financial needs. These are supplemented by some income from rent and by interest on money held in trust.

What can you do?

The Bible teaches that Christians have the responsibility of supporting their ministers. We also need to maintain the buildings and services that we enjoy using. Therefore, we encourage all who make Saint Augustine's their church to give regularly, systematically and generously. Some of course are in a position to give more than others. Will you become part of the family that does this?

Using envelopes

A collection is taken during each service. Many of our regular attenders use weekly offertory envelopes to ensure confidential and regular giving. Sets of envelopes are available free of charge; just ask the welcomers at the door for a set. Each envelope has 2 parts - one for money to be used within the church, the other to support your choice of Christian work outside Neutral Bay. Our church treasurer will send the latter to any Christian Organisation or Appeal you designate.

Direct Debit and Credit Card giving

Facilities are in place for giving to the church and/or other organisations via transfer of funds from your nominated bank account or credit card. You can commence or change your giving by downloading & completing this PDF and bringing it to church.

How much money is needed from offertories?

Our church budget for 2008 looks for $3,865 each Sunday from those who attend St Augustine's. This is supplemented by smaller amounts we receive from rent and interest. These are the main expenditure items in our 2008 budget:
